The project is related to the JICA “Balance of Payment Business Promotion Survey”.
The purposes of the project were as follows:
• To develop a greenhouse with the required facilities for hydroponic cultivation of Japanese strawberries in India.
• To test locally available equipment and materials for the cultivation works to reduce the cost of hydroponic systems.
• To develop a viable business model of hydroponic strawberry cultivation to sell high-quality Japanese strawberries to five-star hotels and wealthy Indian customers.
• To transfer the technology of hydroponic cultivation to rural farmers who could implement the cultivation systems in India. • GRA, Inc. a production, sales, and export of agricultural products company of JAPAN is the implementing organization of the project
The preparation of a project proposal submitted to JICA & participation in an interview with JICA on the proposal.
Negotiation with the Maharashtra State Government to start the project.
Hold consultation meetings on the project with the State Government annually.
Reviewed the implementation of the project regularly and gave necessary advice to GRA as to how to improve the implementation.
The preparation of the progress reports being submitted to JICA, GRA every six months
Conducted negotiations with the State Government and ICA India concerning the transfer of the greenhouse and other facilities from GRA Japan to ICA India.
