Data collection survey on environmental aspects in the Western Ghats area

Client: Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA).

The Western Ghats area is a World Natural Heritage site and has rich biodiversity including some endemic and rare species. Therefore, it was important to assess the potential impacts of the existing infrastructure development projects on the local biodiversity and the valuable ecosystems to ensure conservation.

PADECO INDIA was assigned for data collection survey on environmental aspects in the Western Ghats area and was responsible for the following activities:

To collect the existing literature information and conduct interviews for related organizations and researchers.

To collect and analyze information regarding the circumstance of its ecology, rare species and endangered species in the objective area, and approaches of conservation and management for those species.

To analyze effects and possibilities for ecology from the project implementation.

To Propose and design an additional ecological field survey for biodiversity assessment.
