Client: Japan Bank for International Cooperation, (JBIC).

The river water is used for agriculture, irrigation, domestic water supply, industrial, etc. It has been subjected to overexploitation, both in quantity and quality. Given that a large population is dependent on the river, it is of significance to preserve its water quality.
River Yamuna is the largest tributary of the river Ganga, considered as one of the holiest rivers in India.
An effective Sewerage System is one of the ways to preserve the quantity as well as the quality of water and led to the initiation of the Yamuna River Basin Sewerage System Project with support from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
